Overview

The purpose of this position is to insure the construction and maintenance of a fiber distribution system that supports the needs of ALLO.  You will be expected to promote ALLO’s culture:  We’re Exceptional, Local, Hassel Free and Honest.

Responsibilities

  1. Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in Fiber To The Home (FTTH) design projects.
  2. Work with Allo design team and review current Plant design to understand principles and practices of current Allo FTTH design.
  3. Plan and design FTTH networks following construction and government standards using 3-GIS design software.
  4. Review Design ‘Playbook’ of Allo Design Guidelines used for auto generated FTTH design.
  5. Review auto generated network designs Allo design guidelines to ensure adherence to Allo design guidelines.
  6. Review auto generated network designs and comment/correct as needed and suggest alternatives to the Allo design guidelines for fringe cases.
  7. Perform database updating for Outside Plant Infrastructure GIS System (3-GIS).
  8. Design fiber optic network design for Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) for subdivisions.
  9. Perform conduits, railway and underground permits, and cabling drawings for subdivisions.
  10. Work with Construction and Splice teams to produce maps of the FTTH outside Plant (OSP) design.
  11. Ensure that OSP data is maintained and synchronized to Customer Support Systems (NISC) and Construction Tracking System (Beehive) from the 3-GIS Source System date.
  12. Work with CSRs and Construction teams to ensure OSP and address data in all systems accurately reflect as-built state.
  13. Field experience and technical data management of Outside Plant (OSP).
  14. Familiar with GIS data management concepts.
  15. GIS, Computer Science or Engineering degree a plus.
  16. GISP Certification a plus.
  17. Ability to design FTTH networks using Active Ethernet.
  18. Engineering on design activities for the Core, MDU’s, and local loop routes.
  19. Ability to travel (25%)

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  High School diploma.  College degree strongly preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  4 years experience with Fiber Design.
