Overview

The User Experience Designer is responsible for designing and conducting usability tests for web-based products. The design involves conceptualizing, sketching and mocking ideas based on high level requirements. The usability tests include rapid iterative testing as well as more in-depth validation of the design. The ideal candidate should have the ability to create detailed screen wireframes to effectively communicate designs to product management, design, and development teams.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development of user interface design
  2. Create wireframes and prototypes using Axure, paper, or HTML
  3. Conduct rapid iterative usability testing of wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
  4. Translate research findings into design recommendations to quickly improve product designs early in the design cycle
  5. Perform validation usability testing to determine whether features and products have met business and usability objectives
  6. Assess and understand the platform, interaction design, design languages, and branding
  7. Create and manage visual design artifacts including design explorations, mockups, visual components, detailed PSDs, style guides, and specifications
  8. Lead peer and marketing-reviews of visual design deliverables.
  9. Assist in conducting usability evaluations including expert reviews, card sorts, competitive analyses, usability tests, etc.
  10. Be passionate about brands, visual identity, design systems, marketing, and how they are expressed through digital products and experiences

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, Web Design, Industrial Engineering, HCI, Industrial Design or related field and/or commensurate experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of industry experience after Bachelor’s/ Master’s.

 

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  1. Solid understanding of UI designs, prototyping tools and technologies is a must.
  2. Attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  3. Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and persuasive skills.
