Overview

The Data Entry Specialist operates a keyboard or other data entry device to enter data into computer.  This position also enters alphabetic, numeric data from source documents into computer using data entry device, such as keyboard and optical scanner, and following format displayed on screen.  In addition, the Data Entry Specialist compares data entered with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect errors and re-enters correct data.  The work is performed according to established methods, procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

  1. Mail opening, sorting, date stamping using proper procedure for institution data into RenWeb.
  2. Scanning of documents.
  3. Performs data entry using database commands and formats.
  4. Enter data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen via scanner and keyboard.
  5. Compare data entered with source documents, re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect errors.
  6. Proofreads documents for correctness or missing information.
  7. Work independently while being a team player, understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with Team Leader.
  8. Reviews discrepancies in data received. Requests clarification or advises supervisor of issues related to data and performs data verification routines in accordance with company procedures.
  9. Provide input during team meetings regarding manual revisions, training revisions.
  10. Other Duties as Assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

A high school diploma

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years of experience in data entry, primarily entering alpha/numerical data.  Must demonstrate competency by passing a data entry test.

  1. Above average to excellent computer skills.
  2. Accurate data entry speed of 50-65 wpm.
  3. Must be able to work with confidential information in a responsible manner.
  4. Thorough proofreading skills.
  5. Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  6. Ability to work at a fast focused pace and meet deadlines.
  7. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  8. Interact professionally with other employees.
