  • Overview

    We are looking for DevSecOps Engineers with a wide range of skills that love automating infrastructure-as-code, code development & deployment, and a secure code infrastructure, to support building robust and scalable applications. Your experience with cloud architecture, modern software development frameworks, infrastructure, and security will be essential to building a state of the art DevOpsTeam.

     

    In this position, you will be part of a fast paced team responsible for developing, inventing, implementing and maintaining automated methods to manage infrastructure, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and security. 

     

    As a member of this team, you will help set the vision and roadmap for moving from a primarily in-house infrastructure to a hybrid infrastructure utilizing AWS.  Team members regularly research and define requirements, build tools and automation, and implement industry best tools to assist in the delivery of high quality production services and the evolution of our cloud infrastructure and delivery pipeline.

     

    This position requires work in support of the Company’s contract with the United States Department of Education (“ED”).  As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance.  Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed.  In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.

    Responsibilities

    1. Advise on best practices for doing DevSecOps.
    2. Develop, adopt, and implement solutions that contribute to automation of code builds, code deploys, security reviews, infrastructure setup, and support development teams towards a more rapid and self-service use of infrastructure while following best practices, standards and procedures.
    3. Administer systems, load balancers, DNS, etc. as required by various applications in windows, Linux, and AWS environments.
    4. Define solutions using DevSecOps architecture patterns, automate CI and CD pipelines, and monitor systems for variations from configuration standards.
    5. Assesses IT problems and system needs. Identify and build architectural enablers for IT.
    6. Collaborate effectively with others to solve complex problems and resolve technological disagreement with informed, rational and collaborative solutions
    7. Apply proven delivery methodologies including Agile/Scrum
    8. Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies, industry trends and standards
    9. Share Knowledge, mentor and provide technical guidance to the development team as needed
    10. Participate in team planning sessions and provide effort estimates and timeline commitments
    11. Advocate, design, promote and support Continuous Delivery

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • BS / MS in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience

     

    COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

    1. Implement and maintain infrastructure and processes for highly scalable distributed systems
    2. Experience with end-to-end infrastructure to support web applications
    3. Experience with F5 Load Balancer, Windows infrastructure, AD, etc.
    4. Experience Securing Applications, Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, etc.
    5. Experience with DevOps orchestration tools
    6. Experience with AWS cloud services
    7. Strong understanding of infrastructure components and how they are architected, in Windows, Linus, and AWS
    8. Automation experience, Powershell, etc.
