  • Overview

    This position coordinates product development, release planning, and marketing related initiatives for a principal product line and market segment, which includes ensuring products and services adequately support the strategic mission of the company.  This position involves gathering input from existing and prospective customers, sales, customer/partner relationship managers, customer account managers, the NBS leadership team, and other appropriate stakeholders.  This position works as a liaison and facilitator between customers and the technical development and implementation teams and will actively participate in the growth of Nelnet Business Solutions.

    Responsibilities

    1. Manage product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life.
    2. Create products based on industry needs and direct customer interaction.
    3. Gather and document requirements in creating products.
    4. Develop go-to-market plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing).
    5. Conduct market research, surveys, and competitive analysis to inform product positioning.
    6. Identify strategic product opportunities.
    7. Write and prioritize use cases and user stories for prioritization.
    8. Ensure functional specifications are aligned with business requirements.
    9. Work directly with engineering team members to clarify ambiguities and other issues during the design and development process.
    10. Form and lead product creation teams as new products are introduced; handoff production-ready services; and repeat the process.
    11. Travel to visit customers and prospects, represent NBS at industry conferences, and pursue professional development activities.
    12. Organize user groups, focus groups, and other customer feedback interactions.
    13. Collaborate with release management to ensure availability of product/feature demos, internal and external training, and production support tools at rollout.
    14. Work with marketing to develop and execute innovative product marketing programs.
    15. Provide support for pricing related decisions.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    BA/BS degree in related field or an equivalent combination of applicable education and work experience.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    1. 1-2 years related experience.
    2. 3-5 years of Product Management experience preferred.
    3. Experience in K-12 market preferred.
