  • Overview

    Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial and operating data while performing a variety of accounting duties in the Corporate Accounting and Finance Department. 

    Responsibilities

    1. Account Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, to include the administration and payment of corporate credit cards
    2. Processing of various cash requests to move funds within the Nelnet Special Purpose Corporations (SPC’s) and Nelnet Operating companies
    3. Reconcile accounts, research and resolve all outages and outstanding items within corporate standards
    4. Work with internal departments, as well as outside agencies, on various accounting issues
    5. Provide information to other areas of the company
    6. Process and distribute reports as necessary and effectively communicate appropriate information to Accounting Management
    7. Provide backup support for various functions within the department, as directed by management
    8. Ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and adherence to all accounting policies and procedures

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    Associate degree preferred or commensurate experience

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    1 to 2 years of accounting experience, reconciling experience, analytical experience. 

     

    COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

    Attention to detail, 10-key adding machine (8,000 – 10,000/hr), strong math skills, strong spreadsheet skills, good judgment, analysis skills, Strong oral and written skills, Self-starter,
