  • Overview

    Responsible for overall leadership of NDS Operational Accounting areas including: Borrower Payments, Lender Transactions, Financial and Operational Reporting and Analytics. 

    Responsibilities

    1. Responsible for the overall planning, organization, execution and measurement of NDS Accounting Operations Division
    2. Ensuring associate, customer, business process, and financial performance targets for Operational Accounting teams are met or exceeded
    3. Support Nelnet’s vision, core values and mission.
    4. Providing leadership and vision to guide and challenge the team to continuously improve the value created for our customers. Define and implement strategies to achieve Nelnet’s goals.  Champion customer-focus and performance improvement by broadcasting results, accomplishments, and success stories.
    5. Defining operational plans, budgets, and goals and performance measures; establishing baselines, setting targets and monitoring and managing performance to achieve desired team results while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
    6. Defining, prioritizing, and leading initiatives to manage and improve business results and intra- and inter-business collaboration. Improve Nelnet’s performance by capitalizing on opportunities to reduce cost and rework while improving the quality of service and customer engagement.
    7. Recruits, develops and coach talent including management and other leadership positions.
    8. Plans and coordinates (and reorganizes, if applicable) the effective functions of the Operational Accounting and Analytics Team.
    9. Participates in developing, analyzing, and monitoring department and divisional goals and objectives.
    10. Interfaces with Policy, Internal Audit, and People Services, FSA Relations, Legal, and Finance as needed to achieve objectives.
    11. Monitors department backlogs and production levels for consistency and acceptability.
    12. Provides tactical and strategic direction in conjunction with other NDS Operations Directors.
    13. Manage department goals and maintain quality standards to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
    14. Develop knowledge of industry changes and maintain knowledge of latest trends and best practice in industry

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    4-year Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting or related field.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    1. Student loan history and project management experience preferred
    2. 4+ years of experience managing teams or equivalent leadership experience
    3. 1+ years of financial and budgetary responsibility
    4. 5+ years of operational experience with ascending levels of responsibility.
    5. Proven experience interacting with various levels of leadership including executives
