  • Overview

    Analyzes, consolidates and interprets financial data.  Participates in strategy planning and development of business plans, products, and pricing, including recommendations to help in decision making.  Leading the development and maintenance of financial analysis and reporting, including monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, key metrics, pricing and profitability projects.  Represent the Accounting & Finance role in key decisions with multi-departmental decision making. Manage project demands of scope, time, cost and quality.


    1. Lead and develop monthly reporting to Senior Management to facilitate monitoring of key metrics, financials trends, and volumes.
    2. Participate in management decisions to better know the customers’ needs and understand their goals and analysis & reporting requirements.
    3. Identify and implement improvements in reporting, cost analysis and process with how Finance can be a valuable resource to the Senior Management.
    4. Lead team in identification and reporting of financial metrics and cost analysis for the division. Analyze results and provide senior leadership with information to guide in decision making.
    5. Lead staff to evaluate and track market and product profitability and to assist in development of strategic plans and monitoring of performance. Recommend standards for categorizing services and their costs.
    6. Lead the development and enhancement of financial analysis, including market pricing activities, RFP requests, new product plans and pricing models, cost benefits analysis, and pricing workflow and approval processes.
    7. Act as liaison between NBS Finance and Nelnet Corporate Finance & Tax, SEC and Corporate Accounting teams as necessary. Ensure the team provides required information and analysis for Corporate Metrics, SEC reporting, financial audits, tax research and projects, or other ad-hoc requests on a timely basis.
    8. Lead/complete financial statement modeling and multi-year forecasting as needed.
    9. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for senior leadership as required.
    10. Assess Finance workflow and process improvement ideas and guide changes (e.g. automation processes) to ensure efficiencies are maintained in processes in both Accounting and Finance tasks.
    11. Conduct performance reviews, staff training and development, manage workflow and other supervisor or management responsibilities as needed.



    1. Bachelor’s Degree required in Finance or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance. Finance degree preferred.
    2. Advanced degree or certification preferred.



    1. 5+ years of related financial analysis experience, with a proven record of success.
    2. 3+Year of management experience.
    3. Significant experience in strategic planning & reporting, analyzing and modeling.
    4. Project management experience. Merger and acquisition experience and technical research skills recommended.
    5. Accounting or auditing experience preferred.



    1. Knowledge of accounting theories and practices.
